Hello, I'm Rose!

I reached out to other veterans, seeking advise, I realized they, too were in the same boat. To many, the action of transitioning to the civilian world feels like a new job, because there are many unfamiliar tasks and deadlines they must complete. Every day is completely different from the last one, until you find a job. It’s a lonely process with many unknowns and for many veterans, finding a good-paying job will be near impossble for the first year. Many leave the military and end up dependant of the government - sometimes never recovering fully from their debt.

That’s when I thought of creating Tactical Frugality. I wanted to provide a site where military members in any status - whether active, reserve, or veterans - can visit somewhere online, understand the content, and feel understood. Here, I will break down the things that I’ve learned after doing heavy research of my own on money saving tactics. I started reading investment books and listening to financial podcasts such as, Couple Money and Be Wealthy and Smart. I have them to thank much for the motivation and the positive I have in my life. In short, I learned how to be smart with my money and how to invest in wisely.

You will find in my blog, articles about separating from the military to everyday frugal tips like saving money on your phone bill.

Thank you for reading about me!

Hello! Thank you for stopping by! I’m Rose, the creator of Tactical Frugality. I served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 10 years as an Operation Specialist in the field of Law Enforcement (LE) and Search and Rescue (SAR). I’ve served both on cutter and on land. I was stationed on the CG Cutter Jarvis in Honolulu, Sector San Juan in Puerto Rico and Sector Long Island Sound in Connecticut. Lastly, I became a reservist for one year and was stationed in Station Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Overall, my Coast Guard exprience was amazing and I would do it all over again!

When I separated from the Coast Guard, I found myself lost in the process. With only a week’s training provided by the military, I stepped out into the civlian world. I felt like I wasn’t trained for the mission of civilain life. Like many veterans, my savings started to drain rapidly and new bills started me by surprise. I felt dispair slowly creeping over me.
